Terms
Care guidance supports judgment; it does not replace it.
These terms explain the rules for using The Lorekeeper's Leaf website, Web Companion, Android app, Family Garden, and plant-guidance features.
Last updated: August 28, 2026
Agreement and eligibility
By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. You must be at least 13. If you are under the age of legal adulthood where you live, a parent or guardian must approve your use and accept these terms for you.
Accounts and account security
Give accurate account information and keep your password, verification codes, device access, and Family Garden invitations secure. You are responsible for activity that occurs through your account or an invitation you distribute, unless the activity results from a security failure by us. Tell us promptly if you believe an account or household has been accessed without permission. Do not impersonate another person, sell an account, or give someone access to a household without authority.
Membership, billing, and renewals
Seedling is the free membership with core plant-care and recordkeeping features. The Botanist is a paid, automatically renewing membership. The public United States reference prices are $9.99/month or $59.99/year; eligible Founder's Edition members may receive $49.99/year. The Membership page describes the current plan features, while Google Play shows the final localized price, taxes, eligibility, and purchase terms before checkout.
Google Play is the checkout and membership-management authority for an Android purchase. Cancel future renewal through Google Play using the same Google account used for the purchase. Cancelling stops a future renewal; it does not delete the plants, photos, journal entries, or lineage already in your account. Account deletion is separate from membership cancellation, and a deletion request does not cancel a Google Play membership. You can use the Android app's restore option to ask Google Play to re-check eligible purchases from that same account.
Your records, photos, and other content
You keep ownership of plant records, journal writing, photos, lineage information, and other content you add. You must have the right to use that content. You give The Lorekeeper's Leaf a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, copy, process, transmit, and display it only as reasonably needed to operate the features you choose, including synchronization, backups, household sharing, support, exports, and a Plant Passport you deliberately publish. This license ends when the content is deleted from active systems, except for temporary backup copies and records that must be kept for security, dispute, or legal reasons.
Acceptable use
Do not use the service to break the law; harm, threaten, or deceive someone; infringe intellectual-property or privacy rights; upload malware or unlawful content; access another household without permission; defeat access controls or technical safeguards; interfere with the service; scrape or reverse engineer it where the law does not permit that restriction; or misrepresent an identification result, care record, lineage, or Plant Passport. Do not use automated requests in a way that overloads or disrupts the service.
Plant care, identification, AI, and safety
Care schedules, plant identification, toxicity labels, health suggestions, and Lorekeeper's Assistant responses are educational tools. They are not a guaranteed identification, diagnosis, treatment plan, or promise that a plant will survive. Photos can be incomplete, and real conditions vary by plant, home, season, pot, growing medium, and local environment. Confirm important labels and instructions before acting. Do not rely on the service for human or animal medical advice, emergency decisions, safe-edibility decisions, or pesticide handling. For suspected ingestion, poisoning, serious exposure, or another urgent concern, contact local emergency services, poison control, a veterinarian, or another qualified professional.
Beta features, changes, and availability
Some features may be labeled beta, preview, or development. They can be incomplete, change, or become temporarily unavailable. Internet, device, provider, and maintenance failures can also interrupt authentication, synchronization, media, AI, or calendar connections. We do not promise uninterrupted service, but we will describe current product boundaries honestly and give reasonable notice before a material change when practical.
Ending use or closing an account
You may stop using the service or request account deletion at any time. We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, protect people or data, comply with law, or enforce these terms. We may terminate an account for a serious or repeated violation. When it is safe and lawful, we will give notice and a reasonable chance to export personal garden records. Terms that logically need to continue—such as ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute terms—survive account closure.
Our service and intellectual property
The software, design system, brand, logos, guide text, and other service content supplied by The Lorekeeper's Leaf are protected by intellectual-property law. We grant you a limited, personal, revocable, non-transferable license to use the service for its intended purpose while you follow these terms. We do not transfer ownership of the service or its brand. If you voluntarily send feedback, you allow us to use it to improve the product without compensation or attribution, but we will not treat your private garden records as product feedback.
Third-party services
The service connects with providers such as Supabase, Cloudflare, OpenAI, and Google. Their services can have separate terms, privacy rules, availability, and account requirements. We are not responsible for a third-party service outside our control, but we remain responsible for choosing providers carefully and for our own handling of information. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Warranty disclaimer
To the extent the law permits, the service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not warrant that every feature will be uninterrupted or error-free, that every identification or care suggestion will be correct, or that use will produce a particular plant outcome. Nothing in these terms excludes a warranty or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Limits on liability
To the extent the law permits, The Lorekeeper's Leaf is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential loss, or for lost opportunities, lost data, or plant loss resulting from use of the service. Our total liability for claims connected with the service will not exceed US $100. These limits do not apply to fraud, gross negligence, willful misconduct, personal injury caused by negligence, or another liability that the law does not allow us to limit.
Governing law and disputes
Applicable United States federal law and the law of the U.S. state where The Lorekeeper's Leaf is principally operated govern these terms, without applying conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer protections where you live still apply. Before filing a claim, please email a description of the problem and the relief requested and allow 30 days for a good-faith effort to resolve it. If that does not work, either side may use an eligible small-claims court or another court with lawful jurisdiction. Either side may seek urgent relief when needed to protect people, accounts, confidential information, or intellectual property.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes. We will post the new date and give reasonable notice of a material change through the service, website, or account email when practical. Changes apply prospectively. Continuing to use the service after an updated version takes effect means you accept it.
